Stella Doubleshot, ACT
Stella Doubleshot is a Canberra based burlesque performer who competed in the inaugural 2019 DIY BurlesKoala competition. She describes her usual burlesque style as “classic to crazy, anything goes!” I asked Stella about her experiences competing in the 2019 DIY BurlesKoala Competition.
Why did you enter DIY BurlesKoala?
SD: It looked like fun
Where did the inspiration for your act come from?
SD: Like most of my acts, I found the music first, then developed the character
What was the biggest challenge you faced in creating your DIY act?
Glue! Learning which glues worked for which materials
What was the biggest achievement or win you had in creating your DIY act?
Learning how to 3D print pastie shapes.
What was your favourite aspect of competing in DIY BurlesKoala?
Seeing the creativity of everyone come to life
If you were to enter again, what would you do differently?
Think more outside the obvious. There were heaps of things I could have done differently if I wasn’t so stuck on certain ideas
What advice would you give someone considering entering?
Go nuts! Try that crazy idea!
What is one DIY trick, skill or experience you learned/ had during the creation of your act that you are most proud of?
3D printing.
