Though 2020 is full of ups and downs, we are excited to be welcoming not one but two guest Muses to this season of classes. You can find classes in Wollongong and Sutherland, as well as online on our Book Classes page.
The ever delightful Miss Surely Knot will be returning to teach a Beginners Burlesque course, and a Group Performance course for our Sutherland students.
She is such a sweet English Rose… Well maybe after she has chance to pick her halo off the floor. Always fun and a little bit sassy, she brings a taste of old fashioned charm to the stage. Wickedly funny, and a sly sense of absurd, washed down with a slug of saucy entertainment, our Sutherland students are in for a treat.
Previously Surely Knot has taught workshops, and has co-choreographed group routines with Head Muse, Mae de la Rue, and performed at both of our Muse Showcases in 2019.
We are delighted to welcome her back to teach a group routine with traditional charm and a side of sass. Surely Knot will be teaching on Thursday nights in Sutherland.
Our Head Muse Mae de la Rue will be teaching a Group routine in Wollongong utilising flutter fans as the key prop. She will also be coaching students looking to develop their own acts as solo performers, or in small groups. Mae will be teaching on Monday nights in Wollongong.
However, Mae is also preparing to compete in the Miss Burlesque Australia competition on Friday 13 November at The Factory Theatre in Sydney, so will be taking a step back this season to ensure she has time to create two exciting acts for performance.
It is our great delight to announce our newest Muse, recently relocated from Melbourne to Sydney, and ready to teach act development for solo performers and small groups.
Introducing Ferri Maya, a multi award winning performer, internationally known as the goddess of rock’n’roll Burlesque. Ferri Maya is Miss Burlesque Melbourne, Miss Burlesque Australia’s most innovative, and New York golden pastie winner for the wild child.
Ferri Maya is the founder of Burlyrock, her trade mark style of rock’n’roll burlesque. Ferri Maya has been teaching at Bottoms Up Dance in Melbourne, and now she’s joining the Sirens team at Sky Sirens in Sydney, and Muse School Of Burlesque in Wollongong.
Ferri Maya has been mentoring and teaching online through Bottoms Up and has had a long career in teaching dance and drama in secondary schools. Ferri Maya is also an online student with her mentor, Ginger Valentine… so she knows exactly what it’s like to be the student as well as the teacher.
Ferri will be teaching on Sunday evenings in Wollongong and online.
